Blanche Mitchell Simpson Tucker

Blanche Mitchell Simpson Tucker, 93, of Owensboro, died Thursday, December 23, 2010, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born October 24, 1917 to the late John and Stella Mae Hall Mitchell in Daviess County. She had been an owner and operator, along with her father, of Mitchell's, the Town House, and the Lewisport Restaurant for many years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, exercising and being with her family. After the death of her husband, she sold their house and purchased a condo in "The Gardens" in the Heartlands. It didn't take her long to become a "social butterfly". She looked forward to the ladies calling and saying, come to the clubhouse."we're going to play hand and foot."

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman H. Simpson, her 2nd husband of 45 years, Cecil Tucker in 2005, a great-grandson, Henry Tucker, a great-granddaughter, Olivia Stevens, a brother, Allen Mitchell, and a sister, Louise Kelley.

Survivors include her son, David Simpson and his wife, Joyce of Owensboro, her daughter, Judy Heady and her husband, David of Haiti; four step-children, Jim Tucker of Crawfordsville, IN, Gerald Ray Tucker of Fairfield, CA, Jerry Tucker of Evansville, IN, and Bonnie Gwaltney of Evansville, IN; 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Crabtree of Lewisport; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, officiated by Rev. David Heady, with burial in Pleasant Hope Church Cemetery in McLean County. Visitation will be 1:00 until 5:00 PM Sunday and after 12:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Global Outreach of Haiti, P.O. Box 1, Tupulo, MS 38802.
