Blanche Swanson Dahlquist, 93, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Danbury-Huber Heights Assisted Living Facility in Tipp City, Ohio. She was born June 17, 1931 in Worthington, Minnesota to the late Glen and Stella Dopking Swanson. Blanche was a longtime and active member of Trinity Episcopal Church and a graduate of Mankato State Teacher’s College in Mankato, MN. She taught for five years in Minnesota and two years in West Virginia before becoming a full-time homemaker. She loved cooking and playing cards “especially bridge”. Her favorite dessert was hot fudge sundaes and had one on her birthday five days before she passed away. Blanche and her late husband Bill enjoyed traveling with their friends Elwood and Joann Castlen and during their travels were able to visit all 50 states.
Blanche was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilton Harry “Bill” Dahlquist on August 27, 2023; her brother and his wife, Arthur and Joan Swanson; a nephew David Swanson; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mardelle and Bob Sotebeer.
Surviving are her daughter and husband, Glenda and Randal Planz of Dayton, Ohio; two nieces, Ann Rowe of Omaha, Nebraska and Barbara Hurst of Ashland, Nebraska; four great nieces and nephews and one great great niece.
Funeral services for Blanche will be 4:30 PM Saturday, June 29 at Trinity Episcopal Church with entombment at Noon Sunday at Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 3 PM until the time of services Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church.
