Billy Ray Woodward, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at his home. He was born February 11, 1931 in Daviess Co. to the late William T. and Evelyn Fenwick Woodward. Billy was a member of Owensboro Christian Church and was retired from Green River Steel after 27 years. He was a graduate of the former Owensboro Technical High School, and also had worked as a land agent for Triad Mining and Green Coal Co. and had been a real estate broker. Billy enjoyed reading, gardening, driving, and was the owner of several small businesses in Owensboro. He was a former president of the Daviess Co. Fish and Game Farm and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Billy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Edwards Woodward, two daughters, Gayla Hunt and husband Tommy of Lewisport and Katie Snyder and husband Jonathan of Newburgh, IN, two sons, Dewayne Robertson of Maceo and Bryan Robertson and wife Cindy of Owensboro, six grandchildren, Charles Wayne Hall, Brandon Hall, Adam Hunt, Blake Hunt, Eric Robertson, and Jamie Potter, and 14 great grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 6, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
