Billy J. Whitworth, 82, of Utica, formerly of Maceo, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016. He was born April 1, 1934 in Breckinridge Co. to the late William Wesley and Mildred Temple Glasscock Whitworth. Billy was the owner and operator of Whitworth Trucking for 54 years. He was a member of Maceo Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a "Candidate for Safety" in the Truck Driving Hall of Fame. He was formerly a member of the Teamsters Union. Billy loved antique tractor pulling and especially the antique tractor he rebuilt and took to tractor shows. He also enjoyed researching family history and geneology and the many visits throughout his illness with his family friend Larry Matlock. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Harris, Regina Duncan, and Mary Bailey.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Nancy Whitworth, three daughters, Nancy Carol Wilson of Memphis, TN, Sheila Hemingway and husband Tom of Utica, and Robin Selby and husband Kevin of Philpot, eight grandchildren, Ben Wilson and wife Gina of Salt Lake City, Utah, Christopher Easler of Evansville, IN, Samantha Phillips and husband Rob of Utica, Colin Wilson and wife Michelle of Memphis, Jennifer Hatcher and husband Zach of Owensboro, Rachel Foreman and husband Austin of Owensboro, Nick Selby and wife Erica of Utica, and Kalib Selby and wife Katie of Owensboro, 14 great grandchildren, Astrid, Kaden, Haylee, Grayson, Weston, Colton, Emma, Parker, Ellie, Preston, River, Tucker, Karlie, and Karter, three sisters, Naomi Oates of The Villages, Florida, Lois Ann Clayton and Sue Baggarly, both of Owensboro, a brother-in-law, James Lloyd Duncan of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 9, at Maceo Baptist Church with burial following in Cave Springs Methodist Church Cemetery in Breckinridge Co. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 1:00 P.M. Sunday at Maceo Baptist Church.
