Bill Staples, 84, of Owensboro, passed away April 7, 2018. He was born August 30, 1934 in Owensboro to the late William A. Sr., and Geraldine Staples. Bill was an electrician by trade and owned Staples Electric. His electric work included such places as Diamond Lake, Windy Hollow Race Track, various oil companies, and was one who was brave enough to climb many towers throughout Owensboro when lights needed to be changed. Bill was a man who loved adventure. He spent hours on the racetrack and even had the opportunity to race against Darrell Waltrip. He raced in Nashville, Whitesville, Indiana, Illinois and other places. Bill was a diehard Dale Earnhardt fan and loved Elvis. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Staples.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marilee Staples; children, Karen Staples (Greg Clark), Sharon Cross (Kenny), Tamara Williams (Dallas), Marilyn Staples, David Staples, Patricia Winn; step-son, Bryan Pearson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe Staples (Ann), Kenny Staples (Sheila), Robert Staples and several nieces and nephews.
Services are private.
