Beverly Grider Parks

Beverly Grider Parks, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on June 30, 1922 in Warren Co. to the late David and Loueen Pruden Grider. She was retired from the Owensboro School System having worked in the lunchroom at Foust Elementary School for 23 years. She was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the Women's Missionary Union, had been a volunteer for the Friendship House and was a visitor to the shut-ins of the church and a prayer warrior. She was a graduate of Bowling Green High School. She was a Kentucky Wesleyan basketball fan and enjoyed listening to Joel Utley announce the games on the radio and also playing bunco with her group of lady friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard T. Parks on July 14, 1985 and a daughter, Carolyn Midkiff on September 19, 2003.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Harmon and husband Scott of Lake Charles, LA, a son, Ken Parks and wife Becky of McDermott, OH, five grandchildren, Ginger Parks of Owensboro, David Parks of Bowling Green, Sarah Henderson and husband Nathan of Moncks Corner, S. C., Rachel Harmon of Lake Charles, and John Allen Midkiff of Tallahassee, FL, two great grandchildren, Parker Gene and Emma Rose Henderson, a brother, John D. Grider and wife Barbara of Bowling Green, several nieces and nephews, and her many friends and neighbors she dearly loved.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 21, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Memorial Baptist Church in memory of Beverly Parks, 1225 W. 3rd. St., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
