Betty Miller Wilson

October 24, 1914 — January 25, 2009

Betty Miller Wilson, 94, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at her home. Born in Owensboro, a daughter of the late P.J and Lyda Williams Miller, she was a graduate of Owensboro High School and attended Sophie Newcom College in New Orleans. Mrs. Wilson was a devoted third generation member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Service Sunday school class and taught Sunday school for children for many years. She was on the board of directors of the Mary Kendall Home, serving as president for one year. Her other interests included membership in the Cotillion Club which was the forerunner of the Junior League, the Hospital Guild, and the Fashion Club. Mrs. Wilson was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed needlework. She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Wilson in 1993 and her sister, Evelyn Miller Massie.

Survivors include her children, William L. Wilson, Jr. and his wife Gay, and Sally Wilson Plain and her husband R. Scott, all of Owensboro; her grandchildren, Scott Plain, Jr., Betty Plain Beyerley, William L. Wilson, III, Wendy Wilson Stringer, and Megan Wilson Kaelin; her great grandchildren, Thomas Beyerley, David Beyerley, Benjamin Beyerley, Will Wilson, Wilson Stringer, Mary Miller Kaelin, and Caroline Kaelin; her brother, John S. Miller and his wife Jackie of Owensboro; and her devoted caregivers of long standing.

Services, officiated by the Rev. Paul Strahan and the Rev. Dr. David Nelson, are at 12:00 noon Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Western Kentucky, the Help Office, or the Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church.
