Betty J. Shown

Betty J. Shown, 84, of Maceo, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017. She was born in Daviess County to the late John Marvin and Minnie Maude Arnold Keelin. Mrs. Shown attended St. Martin's Grade School in Rome and St. Francis High School.

For several years, Betty owned and operated Betty's Kuntry Kitchen restaurant. She later retired from the Carmel Home after more than twenty years in the dietary department. She was of the Catholic faith. Betty enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, flower gardening, crocheting, crafts, puzzles, bird watching, fishing, camping, and NASCAR.

Mrs. Shown was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Dale Shown in 2004; two sons, Billy Shown and Ronald Shown; sisters, Lois M. Johnson, Regina Hayden and Myrtle Keelin; and brothers, Owen, Marvin, Wilbur, Hilary and Sonny Keelin.

She is survived by four sons, Michael Shown of Owensboro, Joe Shown (Lorraine) of Garland, TX, Steve Shown and Kevin Shown (Susan), both of Owensboro; four daughters, Elaine Miller, Beverly Miller, both of Owensboro, Brenda Hicks (Dick), Sandra Stinnett (Bruce), both of Maceo; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Rose Henning, who had a special, fun and meaningful relationship with Betty for many years.

The funeral service will be 12 Noon, Saturday, October 28 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Friday from 3 until 8 PM, with prayers at 7 PM, and Saturday after 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
