Betty Jo Payne

Betty Jo Clark Payne, 78, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born April 7, 1937 in Daviess Co, to the late Bernard and Dorothy Starks Clark. Betty was a homemaker and member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church where she had served as a Eucharistic minister, in hospitality ministries, and would take communion to the home-bound. She loved sending letters and cards of all types to family and friends. Betty was a very loving person to her family, especially to her grandchildren. She was a very devout Catholic and faithful servant. Her love and smile will always be remembered by everyone. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Marleena Bowlds.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, William A. Payne, two sons, Mark Payne and wife Gwen and Michael Payne and wife Arlene, all of Owensboro, four daughters, Debbi Wagner and husband Rich, Sharon Thompson and husband Ronnie, Vickie Bowlds and husband Robert, and Susan Risse and husband Donnie, all of Owensboro, 13 grandchildren, Christopher Payne, Lori Mimms, Stephani Thompson, Amy Thompson, Laci Millay, Kelsey Leonard, Megan Bartlett, Casey Storm, Amanda Taylor, Jill Chappell, Allison Payne, Dana Payne, and Alex Bowlds, 21 great grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, a brother, Bobby Clark and wife Barbara of Owensboro, three sisters, Martha Faye Hayden and husband Marvin, Judy Fischer, and Janice Goins, all of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 16, at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with burial following in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday with prayers at 7:30 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Paul Church.
