Betty J. Payne

Betty J. (Tice) Payne, 83, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Merrill Charles and Bertha (Ellis) Tice.

Betty was a member of Apollo Heights Baptist Church and formerly a member of Third Baptist Church. She was the manager at Stop and Go Convenience store for over ten years. Betty enjoyed being outdoors, especially the country, her home at Rough River and gardening. She was also a big fan of garage sales. Most of all, she was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Shirley Tice Shelton.

Betty is survived by a daughter, Linda Cheek of Owensboro; two sons, Larry Allen Payne ( June ) of Sorgho, KY and Ronnie Lee Payne ( Kim ) of Philpot, KY; five grandchildren, Kim Chance, Michael Knight, Lauren, Heath and Chase Payne; five great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Tice ( Dorothy ) of Owensboro; a brother-in-law, Bill Shelton of Texas and a dear friend , Jean Dubber.

The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, September 26 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Jerry Carter will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday after 9:00 AM.
