Betty Harper Moorer

Betty Harper Moorer, 86, passed away February 21, 2026. Betty was born October 13, 1939, to the late Earl J. And Mary Harper, in Owensboro, a community she loved deeply and called home. For the last six years, Betty spent much of her time closer to family in Port Charlotte, FL. A graduate of Owensboro High School, Betty was known throughout the area as a lifelong hairdresser, a profession she embraced not simply as work, but as ministry. For decades, her chair was a place where friendships were formed, stories were shared, and people left feeling better than when they arrived.

She took pride in caring for others and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome.She was a devoted member of Christ Community Church, where her faith guided her life and her love for others was evident in all she did.

Betty was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, valuing the fellowship, service, and friendships it brought into her life. She loved music and had a joyful spirit that showed most clearly on the dance floor. Betty never missed an opportunity to dance, and her laughter and energy brought light to every gathering.

She was preceded in death by a son, John S. Douglas.

Betty is survived by her sons, Stephen E Douglas and James Scott Douglas of Port Charlotte, FL and a host of grandchildren.

The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
