Betty Bee Melton, 68, of Owensboro, died Saturday, May 5, 2007. Born in Huntington, West Virginia on August 3, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Fred Homer Bee and Grace Edith Morrow Haddix.
Mrs. Melton graduated from Henry Clay High School and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and her masters degree from Western Kentucky University.
Mrs. Melton had been a teacher for many years and was a member of Owensboro Christian Church and attended Wings of Faith Church. She was the president of the Womans Club of Owensboro, silver life master contract bridge player, a member of the Garden Club, Kappa Kappa Iota Teachers Sorority along with other various clubs and organizations. She loved her church friends and activities and teaching Sunday school. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Melton.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Ryan Royal of Royal Oak, MI; her daughters, Jodie Royal Barnett of Louisville, KY, and Lori-Anne Royal Clark and her husband, Dr. Jonathan Clark, of Danville, KY; her grandchildren, Samuel, Coleman, and Edith Louise Clark, all of Danville, her sister, Jane Bee Adams and her husband, Dr. Dale Adams, of Mobile, AL, two nieces, one nephew, two great-nieces, and one great-nephew.
Funeral services will be 2:30 Thursday, May 10 at Owensboro Christian Church with Myke Templeton officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9 at Glenn Funeral Home, and again on Thursday from 12:30 until service time at Owensboro Christian Church.
