Betty Lee Heifner

Betty Lee Heifner, 75, of Owensboro died on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Owensboro to the late Aloysius M. and Eliza Lee Smith.

Betty retired from General Electric after 35 years of service. She and James spent ten years of their retirement living in Florida. Betty enjoyed fishing and was an avid U.K. Basketball fan. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ruth McDaniel; brother-in-laws, Mac McDaniel and Kenneth Ward; and a niece, Debra Ward Terry.

Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Heifner; sons, Allen Heifner (Brenda) of Owensboro and Rick Heifner (Shelia) of Georgetown, KY; grandchildren, Jonathan Heifner of Lexington, KY, Ricky Heifner of Evansville, IN, Amanda Daniels (Matt) of Louisville, KY and April Heifner of Georgetown, KY; a sister, Wanda Ward of Owensboro; a brother, Raymond M. Smith (Mary Jo) of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Hank Ricketson will officiate. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 - 8 PM and on Tuesday after 12 at the funeral home.
