Betty Lois Greenwell, 94, of Maceo passed away Monday, October 9, 2023, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation. The Daviess County native was born November 10, 1928, as one of six children to the late Paul Guston Clark and Thelma Lorine Garrett Clark. Betty was employed at the Cigar Factory and was also a fulltime mother and homemaker raising her family. She was a member of the Owensboro Rock and Mineral Club and the Owensboro Area Museum. Betty enjoyed collecting rocks, traveling, and camping but her greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She always looked forward to everyone getting together for the holidays.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Richard S. Greenwell in 2006; son, Dale Greenwell in 2012; siblings, Lorine, J.L., Donnie, Lyman, and Maudie.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Lynn Greenwell, Marlene Freels, Bonnie Emmick (Byron), Robin Greenwell (Susan); daughter-in-law, Cindy Greenwell; 10 grandchildren, Adam Greenwell (Jen), Wendy Delp (Tom), Brad Freels (Abbey), Brad Crump (Alicia), Brittanie Hite, Katrina Emmick, Gina Roebuck (Mike), Kasey Emmick (Rachel), Christine Clark (Cody), and Kayla Wendt (Jarred); nineteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; sister, Ann Jenkins; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Clark; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 until 10:30 am at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
