On April 19, 2017, our family lost the most amazing woman in the world. Betty Lou Drury, 89, of Owensboro, was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on October 2nd, 1927, the daughter of the late Delbert Thompson and Lilly Tackett. Betty Lou was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was a strong woman of faith, a loving, supportive and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and knew no strangers. Betty Lou retired from G.E. in 1986 after 29 years, became a homemaker and took care of her greatest love for over 50 years, Joseph Richard Drury until he preceded her in death December 14, 2000.
Betty Lou is survived by her daughters, Lynda Jo Mulligan and Brenda Phelps (Philip) all of Owensboro; son Joseph "Dickie" Drury (Elaine) of Richmond, TX and David Lee Drury of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, David Thompson and sister Margie Whitney.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday April 24, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayer will be 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
