Betty H. Daves

May 10, 1939 — March 21, 2014

Betty H. Daves, 74, of Bowling Green (formerly of Owensboro), passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 in Bowling Green. She was born in Madisonville, Kentucky to the late Walter and Elizabeth Hobgood.

Betty was a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College where she earned a degree in arts. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who never met a stranger. She was known for her generosity, vivacious spirit, and concern for others. Betty has many family members, including her husband, who have served or currently serve in the armed forces. As a result she was one of the most patriotic people you could expect to meet. She and Ronald enjoyed extensive travel, both in the states and abroad.

She was a longtime member of First Christian Church where she had earned the title of "Card Lady". Her passion for art and interior design caused her to especially grieve the loss of the original church. Betty was also a past member of Century Christian Church. Her interests also led her to help many friends with interior design and wedding planning. Her community involvement also included the Red Hat Society, garden clubs, and Interstitial Cystitis Support Group. She was especially involved in the Owensboro Symphony as a longtime patron, auxiliary member and fundraising volunteer.

Betty is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald Daves; a daughter, Ronda Copeland (John) of Bowling Green; sons, Troy Daves (Trina) of Bowling Green and Tracy Daves (Delena) of Vancouver, Washington; grandchildren, Brandon Daves (Deanna), Casey Daves (Erin), Leah Daves and Egan and Stella Copeland; step-grandchildren, Kyle Heifner (Laura) and M'Lisse Boone (fianc-Robbie); great granddaughter, Cecilia Frances Daves; step-great grandchildren, Jeffery and Nori Boone; brothers, James M. Hobgood (Sharon) of Providence, KY and Thomas E. Hobgood (Libby) of Owensboro.

The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, March 25 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Jake Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Monday and after 12 on Tuesday at the funeral home.
