Elizabeth "Betty" Wilhite Cooper, 94, of Owensboro, went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at her home. She was born October 15, 1915 to the late Authur and Emma Jones Stites in Daviess County. She retired from nursing after 19 years of service at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital, and also worked at Ken-Rad and Westinghouse. She was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church, and the Love Sunday school class for 59 years. She was a member of VFW Lady's Auxiliary, Post 696, and the American Legion Lady's Auxiliary, Post 9. She enjoyed life, family, friends, her flower garden, country music, especially George Jones, and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leo Watkins, Noah Wilhite, Webb Crabtree, and Russell Cooper, and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Wallace Drury of Owensboro; her daughters, Doris Jean (Roy) Adams of Owensboro, and Margaret H. (Joe) Mudd of Cox's Creek, KY; her sons, Rev. Kenneth Lee (Phyllis) Watkins of Mammoth Springs, AR, and Melvin H. (Marie) Wilhite of Cromwell; 36 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren; her brothers, William (David) A. Stites, H.C., Weldon, and James Brumley; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:30 AM Friday, at Hall Street Baptist Church with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, and after 9:00 AM Friday at the church.
