Betty Blandford, 83, of Owensboro, died Thursday, July 20 at the Carmel Home. Mrs. Blandford was born May 13, 1934 in Daviess County to the late Thomas E. McDaniel and Grace Marie Long McDaniel. Betty was a member of the first graduating class (1952) of Owensboro Catholic High School. She was a devout Catholic and member of Immaculate Parrish for over 50 years. Betty and her husband, Bernard, made their mark on Owensboro when they owned and ran Blandford's Drive Inn for 40 years. She loved her ceramics and often gave them as gifts as well as filled her house with them. Betty was a giving person who enjoyed her family and cooking for family gatherings.
Mrs. Blandford also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Bernard Blandford in May of 2015; daughter, Kelly Marie Blandford in 1973; brothers, Larry, Jerry, George, Jim and Tony McDaniel and sister, Brenda Ebelhar.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Lisa Jo Burgess (Bruce) of Crestwood; sons, Greg Blandford of Owensboro, Keith Blandford (Carol) of Parrish, Florida and Tim Blandford (Debbie) of Philpot; brother Steve McDaniel (Marlys); sisters, Darlene Beyke (Phil) and Mary Jane Strehl (David); six grandchildren, Chelsy, Tyler, Dallas, Madelyn, Nathan, and Hayden; great grandson, Stateler; numerous nieces and nephews.
The service will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 28 at The Carmel Home with Father Richard Cash and Father Ray Goetz officiating. Burial will be next to her husband and daughter in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM also at the Carmel Home.
