Betty L. Bickwermert Babbitt

Betty L. Bickwermert Babbitt, 76, of Fern Terra in Owensboro, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on September 21, 1936 in Reed to the late Joseph Bernard and Lucy Amelia Schaffer Bickwermert. She was retired as a teacher and principal for the Catholic School System in Gary, IN. Betty was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and loved her church very much where she sang in the church funeral choir. She was also a member of Senior Partners, Right To Life of Owensboro, and enjoyed going to the Elizabeth Munday Senior Center where she had sung in the Choral group. She and her husband Bob had been McCalley ministers at the hospital and in nursing homes. She was a former president of the Whiting Lions Club in Whiting, IN. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, U. K. basketball, needlework, and loved her dog, "Bud".

She was preceded in death also by sisters, Margaret Coomes, Edna Bickwermert, and Frances Carrico, and brothers, Joseph Edward Bickwermert and Eugene Bickwermert.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Joseph Robert "Bob" Babbitt, a sister, Marie B. James of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 11 at Immaculate Catholic Church with Father Tony Jones celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday with prayers at 6:30 P.M. and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
