Bette Carol Robinson Youngman

Bette Carol Youngman, 91, of Brownsboro Park, Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in Louisville after a brief illness. She was born August 5, 1921 in Maceo, Kentucky to Clyde A. and Merl Ellis Robinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Dean G. Youngman, and by her brother, Samuel A. Robinson, who was killed in World War II.

After graduating from Owensboro High School in 1939, she attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia and graduated from the University of Kentucky where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She was retired from the Owensboro Public School System where she taught mathematics. She was a long-time active member of First Baptist Church and The Committee. Although she and Dean moved to Louisville in 2006, their hearts remained in Owensboro.

Survivors include her three children: Vicky (David) Schweickhardt, Louisville, KY, Nancy (Ron) Van Hooser, Plano, TX, and Allen (Alisa) Youngman, Alvaton, KY, grandchildren: Bradley Youngman, Owensboro, KY, Betsy (Bryce) Caldwell, Lexington, KY, Samuel A. Youngman, Arlington, VA, Mindy (Chris) Flora, Lancaster, OH, and Paul Schweickhardt, Louisville, KY; a step-grandson, North (Aspen) Van Hooser, Arlington, TX, and great-grandchildren: Kaden Youngman, Owensboro, KY and Rylee, Ben and Millie Flora, Lancaster, OH.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Bob Farmer and Chris Flora officiating followed by entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
