Beth "Mother Beth" Sparks, passed away September 26, 2015 at Hermitage Care and Rehab. She was born in Hancock County to the late Butler and Ona Mae Turner. Beth was a long standing member for over 60 years at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. Beth was a hard worker. She originally started working at S.S. Kresges and then continued to work at K-Mart until her retirement. Beth enjoyed yard work and gardening. Her flower garden seemed to grow larger with every year that passed. She was an avid UK fan and a great cook. Along with her parents, Beth is also preceded in death by her husband, Finis Sparks and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Sparks (Rebecca); daughter, Carolyn Hancock, both of Owensboro; brother, Hal Turner (Jodie) of Newburgh, IN; granddaughters, Amanda Peveler of Owensboro, Krista Wilkerson (Keith) of Lexington, and Emily Bartlett of Nashville; grandson, Andrew Bartlett (Tammy) of Owensboro; great-grandchildren, Kylee Ray Peveler and Aliyah Peveler; great-great-granddaughter, Khloee Wanzer, several nieces and nephews, and her cat, Tab.
Services will be 12 noon, Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Settle Memorial's Youth Program.
