Bertie Bernard Wood

Bertie Bernard Wood, 85, of Owensboro, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. He was born November 30, 1931 in Lafarge, WI to the late Hubert and Pansy Thomas Wood. Bertie worked at John Deere in Dubuque, Iowa for 32 years and retired from there at the age of 55. He was an Air Force veteran and also served in the Army Reserves. Bertie was also a member of Owensboro Gospel Kingdom Church and was a faithful servant at the Gospel of the Kingdom Campground.

Along with his parents, Bertie was also preceded in death by his brothers, Donnie and Dickie Wood, and brother in law, Donald Starr.

Those left here to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Jeanne Wood of Owensboro; sons, Daniel Wood and his wife Brenda of Montfort, WI, David Wood of Platteville, WI, Michael Wood and his wife Sherri of Princeton, IN, and Mark Wood and his wife Marti of Tampico, IL; daughter, Tammie Chamness of Alexandria, VA, stepdaughters, Brenda Hall, Janet and Butch Pennell, and Louise and Ed Helt; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Ida Starr of Dodgeville, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.

The family will have a memorial service 3 PM Saturday, October 28th at Owensboro Gospel Kingdom Church.
