Bernice G. Cross, born in Miller S.D., January 20, 1908, died April 11, 2003 at the Carmel Home, Owensboro, Kentucky. She was raised in Miller, S.D. and attended St. Catherine College, St Paul, Minnesota. Her spouse, John J. Cross preceded her in death in 1978.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Kay Nelson of Phoenix, AZ and Miller, S.D., and by four children, John J. Cross Jr. of Atlanta, GA, and North Palm Beach, FL, Charlene Cross Baumgarten of Owensboro, KY, James L. Cross of North Palm Beach, FL, and Maureen Cross Ramsey of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Winchester, Ky., was a homemaker, member of the Homemakers Club, a volunteer at the Clark County Hospital, and a member of the Winchester Country Club. She was a music teacher and a member of the St. Joseph choir. As a young woman she traveled with the Chitauqua as they performed Gilbert and Sullivan Operas. She also sang in the chorus of the Chicago Opera.

Visitation is at the Edgington Funeral Home, Winchester, Ky., Monday, April 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral mass is at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Winchester, Ky. Tuesday, April 15, at 10:00 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, Ky. 42303 where she lived for the past year, or to St. Agatha Academy, 244 S. Main Street, Winchester, Ky. 40391
