Bernard Hugh Higdon, 91, of Owensboro passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mr. Higdon was born February 24, 1927 in Owensboro to the late Bernard Joseph and Mary Philomena Strehl Higdon. Hugh enjoyed woodworking and loved to put out a garden every year. He was a member of the United States Navy and served in WWII. Hugh was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where he and Therese were founding members.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Therese Montgomery Higdon; a son Lynn Hugh Higdon; great granddaughter, Ava Jane Morris; sisters, Louise Roehm, Catherine Cherry, and Sister Mary Sheila Higdon; and brothers, Raymond, Jim, Gerald, JW "Duke", Tommy, and Marvin Higdon.
Hugh is survived by his daughters, Jeanie Weedman and her husband, Blair, of Gallatin, TN, and Sharon McPherson and her husband, Bob, of Owensboro; a son, Brian K. Higdon and his wife, Inna, of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Sara Weedman, Krista Sensing (Madison), Julia Clark (Mat), Jason McPherson (Danielle), Natalie Morris ( Dustin), and Illya Higdon; great grandchildren, Ady, Hayden, and Kate McPherson, and Jack, Emma, and Luke Morris; a brother, Gene Higdon (Mary Alice); and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be 10 AM, Monday, March 12, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father Tom Buckman officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 until 7pm with prayers at 6:30, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and Monday after 9:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
