Bernard Coy Payne, 82, of Owensboro, passed away November 8, 2024. He was born in Knottsville on April 6, 1942, to the late Joseph Harles and Lena Bell Mattingly Payne. Bernard served in United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Bernard worked as a Facility Technician for AT&T, where he retired after thirty-five years. He loved spending time on the farm whether it was working, riding the tractor, or fishing. Bernard enjoyed travelling, playing golf, collecting golf balls and loved old cars. Often, he and his wife, Ramona, escaped the colder weather by visiting Gulf Shores. Bernard enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing cards at Tom's Hell and watching the Airshows. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 696. Most of all, he loved his family and sharing his wisdom with those around him. He was the greatest Papaw, a jokester, and a family man.
