Bennie Rex Messimore

Bennie Rex Messimore, 61, of Owensboro, Kentucky, formerly of Madisonville, Kentucky, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 05, 2011, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He had retired from the Daviess County Public Schools Transportation Department, attended First Church of Nazarene and was an avid fisherman and bowler. Bennie never met a stranger, enjoyed life, loved spending time with his family and his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Edna Beashers Messimore.

He is survived by his wife Mary Baize Messimore; children, Derek Messimore and his wife Debra of Livermore, Jay Messimore and his wife Tracie of Owensboro, Melissa Martin and her husband Tim of Dawson Springs, Matt Stuart and his wife Angie of Bowling Green, Marti Duncan and her husband Jason of Morton's Gap, Laura Hurm and her husband Shane of Owensboro and Amanda Bumm and her husband Nicholas of Owensboro; a sister, Mary Jane Melton and her husband Bill of Murray; adoptive parents, Mary and Lawrence Wells of Drakesboro, KY; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Church of Nazarene, 3400 Lewis Lane, Owensboro. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Owensboro Youth Bowling Association.
