Barry "Buddy" Cawthorn

Barry “Buddy” Cawthorn, 73, of Caneyville, Kentucky, passed away Monday, October 26, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born September 30, 1953, in Louisville, to the late Otis Kyle and Lucille Cox Cawthorn. Buddy spent most of his career in sales and customer service, working in the plywood and oil industry.

Buddy was a very generous soul, known to love people, helping in any way he could. He especially loved his children and grandchildren, always taking them to the Kentucky State Fair to attend concerts. He was especially fond of Hank Williams, Jr., The Kentucky Headhunters, and Southern rock. Buddy particularly enjoyed NASCAR and Derby Day parties for family every year. He lived in his lake house on Pine Knob Lake with his pug, April. The two were inseparable. Buddy was also a long-time board member and President of the lake board.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his twin brother Gary Cawthorn; brother, Terry Cawthorn; sisters, Barbara Price, Debbie Thomas, and Pam Hazelwood.

Barry “Buddy” Cawthorn is survived by his daughters, Tara Jones (Jason), Leann Cawthorn, Tina Watkins (Kevin); son, Terry Cawthorn; grandchildren, Jett, Becca, Lilly, Cierra, and Landon; a sister, Gina Newton (Buster); best friend and nephew, Scott Newton; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life is being planned by the family.
