Barry Beck, 69, of Owensboro passed away September 25, 2016. He was born on March 13, 1947, in Daviess County to the late JR and Edith Beck. Barry graduated from Western Kentucky University with a BA, MA, and Rank 1. He went on to be the principal at Whitesville Elementary for 23 years and also worked part-time for Daviess County Parks and Recreation for 26 years. Barry was a member of The Whitesville Lions Club, Windridge Country Club Board of Directors, Whitesville Park Advisory Board, and Kenergy (Green River Electric) Advisory Board. He was also an Eagle Scout, Kentucky Colonel, and a honorary page for Senator Cap Gardner. In his free time, Barry enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, NASCAR, woodworking, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family.
In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Beck, Bobby Beck, and Bruce Beck.
Surviving is loving wife Denise Beck; son, Dustin Beck (Courtney); daughters, Tonya Beck (James), and Wendy Beck Sutrick; grandchildren, Jordan Hite, Jacob Howard, Austin Sutrick, Kaley Beck, Trevor Beck, Alyssa Beck, and Abby Beck; great-grandchildren, Kendall, Kiley, Emma, and Lil Russell; sister, Vickie Daugherty, and a host of animals he loved dearly.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
A fun and festive memorial service will be held 10 am Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2016, and after 8:30 am Thursday at the funeral home.
