Barbara Ann Thompson

Barbara Ann Thompson, 78, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Thursday, January 20, 2011. She was born on February 25, 1932 in Daviess Co. to the late Frank and Carrie Froehlich Schadler, Sr. Barbara was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and a friend to many. She was a longtime parishioner of the Immaculate Catholic Church where she had been a member of the choir and a sacristan. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, and having family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Thompson on Feb. 24, 1988, and a brother, Frank Schadler, Jr. in 2006.

Surviving are four sons, Henry "Hank" Thompson, Jr. and wife Penny of Morgantown, Ky., Mike Thompson and wife Karen of Owensboro, Roger "Chip" Thompson and wife Maria, of Owensboro, and Brad Thompson and wife Leslie of Newburgh, In., five daughters, Carol Davidson and husband Jadie of Owensboro, Connie Etienne and husband Rick of Newburgh, Bonnie DeCarli and husband Jim of Troy, Ill., Sheila Castellini and husband Joe of Raton, N.M., and Julie Thompson of Owensboro, 26 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mary Jo Schadler of Owensboro and Theresa Wernert of Louisville.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 24, at Immaculate Catholic Church with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday and after 8:30 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be 7:00 P.M. Sunday.
