Barbara Ann Powell

Barbara Ann Powell, 74, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully Friday, November 15, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born April 6, 1950 in Houston, Texas to the late W. E. and Bettye Rae Miller Hamilton. Barbara was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and had attended Brushy Fork Baptist Church. She was a retired RN in the nursery and had been with Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for many years. She enjoyed sewing and spoiling her grandchildren. Barbara loved traveling with her very good friend Doris where many shenanigans took place between the two of them. She was also preceded in death by her husband Freddie Powell who she married on April 6, 1968.

 Barbara is survived by four daughters, Donna Hitesman (Michael) of Eldersburg, Maryland, Mary Powell of Owensboro, Tara Hillard (Jack) of Panther, and Rachel Jones (Rodney) of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild, many nieces and nephews; and two brothers, Blake Hamilton (Kala) of Georgetown, Texas and Mark Hamilton of Atlanta, Georgia.

 A Celebration of Life for Barbara will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 23, at Brushy Fork Baptist Church in Panther officiated by Rev. Jason Mayfield. There will be visitation beginning at 10 AM Saturday at Brushy Fork Baptist Church.
