Barbara Ann Hines Vandiver Miles

Barbara Ann Hines Vandiver Miles, 73, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Detroit, MI on October 31, 1937, she was the daughter of the late John and Pearl Latham Hines; was retired from Green River District Health Department where she was a secretary for over 17 years; and was a member of the Calvary Temple Assembly. Mrs. Miles enjoyed gardening and traveling, but most of all, she loved caring for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, William Vandiver in 1971 and Paul Miles in 1990 and brothers, Lowell Hines and Gary Hines.

Surviving are her children, Anthony (Becky) Vandiver of Kernersville, NC, and Vantina Dassing and Rosalynn Vandiver of Owensboro; grandchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Vandiver, Christy (John) Sansom, Troy (Fallyn) Vandiver, Kaley (Eric) Dew, Lynnley Goff, Clint Goff, and Camille Dassing; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Hall of Owensboro and Faye (William) Goff of Marietta, GA; a brother, David (Kay) Hines of Littleton, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Greg Faulls officiating followed by burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
