Barbara Ann Merimee, 88, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, August 18, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born April 4, 1936, to the late Olen Lee and Nora Lee Ward. Barbara was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She worked at GE for 29 years before retiring from US Bank after over 20 years of service. Barbara enjoyed traveling, flea markets, and always stayed busy. Her favorite way to fill her time was by spending it with her family. Barbara had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. She loved admiring the flowers from her sunroom and watching the animals.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Fay Ward, and a brother, Anthony H. Ward.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years, Edwin F. Merimee; children, Jeffrey Merimee (Robin), Steve Merimee (K.), and Michelle Heisler (Jim); sister, Mary Leachman; grandchildren, Andrea Woody (Chris), Kat Price (Hayden), Jordan Merimee-Navidar (Nahal), Jacob Merimee, Amber Peach (Robert), Sarah Bradbury, Beth Heisler, and Cristina Heisler; greatgrandchildren, Lillian Norris and Nima Merimee-Navidar.
The funeral service for Barbara will be 10 AM Friday, August 23, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 PM until 7 PM, with prayers taking place at 6:30, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and Friday from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at the church. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
