Barbara Jean Kirkendoll Martin

Barbara Jean Kirkendoll Martin, 5683 Ware Road, Philpot, died Monday, February 23, 2009 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was a native of Daviess County, born to the late Berman and Louise (Harper) Kirkendoll. She was a letter carrier for the Philpot Post Office, and retired from General Electric. She was a member of Dawson Baptist Church, a volunteer for Owensboro Medical Health System and Deer Park Elementary School. She was a former member of Homemakers of America, and was a UK. fan. She also loved to watch her family ballgames and travel on the Senior Citizens tours.

Surviving are two sons; Gregg (Suzanne) Martin of Utica, and David (Kristan) Martin of Owensboro, two brothers; Donald Kirkendoll of Crestview, Florida and Daniel Kirkendoll of Georgia, a granddaughter; Shelby Martin, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home with Revs. Kimbrough Simmons and Joe Thomas officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Susan G. Koman Foundation or to Masonville Baptist Church Van Fund.


Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
