Barbara Ellen Ferguson Lee

Barbara Ellen Ferguson Lee, 85, of Owensboro, KY passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Heartford House. She was born the first child and only daughter to Ellen and Doyle Ferguson on April 28, 1932 in Bernice, Louisiana. Barbara spent her life adoring her family. Raised a Baptist, she surrendered her life to Jesus as a child and looked forward to eternal life. Her career as a realtor in Owensboro spanned 17 years and she retired in 1982. Barbara served as the first woman president on the Owensboro Board of Realtors in 1971. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and playing with grandchildren. Barbara's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was so blessed with a wonderful life!
She is preceded in death by her brother, Billy Doyle Ferguson and his wife Jean
Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Joe Willis Lee of Utica; her son, Dr. Stephen Joe Lee of Cadiz, KY; her daughters, Cynthia Lee Hawes (George) of Maceo and Nancy Lee Grimsley (Bob) of Utica; her grandchildren, Honorable Julie Hawes Gordon (John Sale II) of Maceo, Brian Lee Hawes (Ellie) of Lexington, Jenna Grimsley Tarter (Chris) of Bowling Green, and Logan Grimsley of Louisville; her great-grandchildren, Dalton, Jack, Sam, and Lucy Gordon; Olivia, Austen, and Adelaide Hawes; Miles, Ian, Luke, and Annsley Tarter; her brothers, Dr. Jerry Ferguson (Hope) of Natchitoches, LA and Dr. John Ferguson (Magdelyn) of Shreveport, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved dearly
The service will be 2PM Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Glynn Ferguson and Dr. Paul Strahan will officiate. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be 5-7PM Friday and 1PM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Heartford House c/o Hospice of Western Kentucky.
