Barbara Joyce Belcher

Barbara Belcher, 84, of Utica, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Ohio County Hospital. The Bells Run native was born November 9, 1938, to the late James L. Sharp and Estelle Ward Sharp. Barbara faced many challenges and difficulties in her life including the loss of her husband and all her children and two siblings. This served to strengthen her faith and trust in the Lord. She was devoted to her church and served as church secretary and taught Sunday School. Barbara adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed making quilts for her family. She also enjoyed needlepoint and raising flowers.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Belcher (2009); children, Timothy Belcher (1962), Tamara Wilson (1992), and Anthony Belcher (2014); her sister, Mildred Ford and her brother, James Sharp.

Those left to cherish her memory include her seven grandchildren, Sara Wilson Ashby (Noah), Blake Belcher (Kasey), Katie Wilson Guy (Jack), Landon Belcher, Nathan Belcher (Keista), Christian Belcher, and Jennifer Sterling (Blake); eleven great grandchildren; brother, Roger Sharp (Karen); sister, Marie Rock, (Don); several nieces and nephews.   

There will be a private graveside service with burial in Barnett’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
