Barbara Jean Hurm, 85, of Owensboro passed away peacefully at her home on September 25, 2016. She was born to the late Edward and Mary Price Hurm on May 30, 1931, in Daviess County. Barbara retired as an executive secretary for General Electric where she worked her entire career. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church where she was very active. Barbara loved to travel; it may have been with the Golden Partners through the health park, to see a play in Louisville, a music festival in Nashville or any place she could see the sights or enjoy the arts. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Hurm; sisters, Carolyn Snyder, Phyllis Scott, and Elaine Hurm; niece, Lisa Hurm; nephew, Mike Scott; and great nephew, Cory Hurm whom she treated like a son.
Survivors include a brother John Hurm; nieces and nephews, Ana Hurm and her significant other Scott, Kim Gillians and her husband Steve, Dave Snyder, Jeff Snyder and his significant other Patti, Jenny Thomas and her husband Randy, Cindy Gress and her husband Jim, Tim Scott and his wife Scotia, Kelly Davis and her husband Todd, and Marc Hurm; she also leaves behind a host of great nieces and nephews.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Blessed Mother Catholic Church or a charity of choice.
The funeral Mass for Barbara will be held 12 noon Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father Mike Clark officiating. Visitation will be from 12 pm until 8 pm with prayers at 6 pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. There will also be a visitation from 9 am until 11:30 am Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery.
