Barbara V. Fulkerson, 88, of Utica passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky. The Daviess County native was born March 1, 1937, as one of eight children to the late Joseph and Leona Sparks Vowels. Barbara attended school at Mount St. Joseph Academy and worked at the G.E. plant. She then began devoting herself to being a housewife and caring for her family fulltime. After all the kids were grown, Barbara worked for over nine years at Walmart. She always had a good dinner on the table waiting for the family who were busy working on the farm. Barbara loved planting flowers in her yard and watching the birds but most of all, she loved her family.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by her son, Eric Fulkerson in 2020.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years, Preston Fulkerson; four children, Michael Fulkerson (Christi) of Springfield, TN, Kathy Criswell (Jim) of Utica, Kevin Fulkerson (Debbie) of Morgantown, and Perry Fulkerson (Fran) of Antioch, TN; daughter-in-law, Lisa Fulkerson; thirteen grandchildren and thirty-nine great grandchildren; sister, Jacqueline Mann of Owensboro; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be noon Tuesday, November 11 at St. Martin Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
