Barbara W. Alvey

Barbara W. Alvey, 83, of Owensboro passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. She was born on August 18, 1929 in Graham, KY to the late Leslie and Myrtle Shanks Walker.

Surviving is her husband of over 57 years, James G. Alvey; her daughter, Deborah Harper ( Mike) of Owensboro; her son James E. Hardison ( Sharon K.) of Athens, AL; five grandchildren, Joseph, John, and Erin Hardison, Joe Harper III and Justin Harper as well as 6 great-grandchildren.

Barbara graduated from Graham High School in 1948 and worked for General Electric until her retirement. After her retirement she worked SW Anderson where she met many friends. She enjoyed travelling throughout the U.S with her family, camping, and working in her flower garden.

Funeral service will be at 2:00PM Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. on Friday and 12:00p.m. until service on Saturday.
