Barbara Ann Hayden Alvey, 75, of Owensboro, died Thursday, March 11, 2004 at the Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Owensboro native was a very active member of the Immaculate Catholic Church. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Francis Academy; and was a retired secretary having worked for Senator Wendell Ford, Brescia College and the Opportunity Center.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Curtis Edward Alvey; five daughters, Carolyn Hayden, Pam Hayden Boone, and Michelle Hayden all of Louisville, Laura Hayden Grube of Columbus, OH, and Stephanie Hayden Martin of Bowling Green; a son, Phillip Hayden of Cloverport; three step-daughters, Joy Alvey Englert of Amelia Island, FL, Beth Alvey of Twin Lake, WI, and Sharon Alvey Willett of Morganfield; two step-sons, Robert Alvey of Owensboro and Christopher Alvey of Atlanta; 21 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rosamery Fischer of Elizabethtown, KY and Dorothy Heflin of Wooster, OH.
Funeral services are 10 A.M. Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Immaculate Catholic Church with burial in St. Peter Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Friday at Glenn Funeral Home where the Rosary will be said at 6 P.M.. Visitation will resume at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday morning.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
