Ava Nell Blaine

Ava Nell Blaine, 82, of Philpot, died Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Wellington Parc. She was born October 8, 1928 to the late William and Elizabeth Hunt Jenkins in Butler County. She was a homemaker, a lover of learning and was the first of her family to attend college and became a teacher in a one room school in Huntsville, KY. Ava Nell delighted in serving and providing for her family. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, fabulous cook, and preserver of her garden's harvest. She was a great lover of crossword puzzles throughout her life. As a teen she committed her life to Christ and was baptized into the Lord's Church. While living in Philpot, she worshipped with the Whitesville, Southside and Westside Churches of Christ. Songs of praise to God were often on her lips as she pursued her daily tasks.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Margie Greathouse, and three brothers, Billy Joe Jenkins, Jim Jenkins, and Howard Jenkins.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Blaine of Philpot; three daughters, Sherry (Matt) Hennecke of Louisville, Keitha (Eddie) Ludlam of Bradley, AR, and Jennifer Blaine of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren, Alyson Hennecke, Megan (Adam) Greiving, Blaine Whisenhunt, Kenneth Whisenhunt, and Garrett Whisenhunt; two great-grandchildren, Kaseden Brown and Peter Greiving; one sister, Dorothy Coleman of Old Hickory, TN; her care-givers, Judy Mills and family of Owensboro.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Riverview Cemetery in Morgantown. Visitation will be 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
