Audileen Huff Philpot

Audileen Huff Philpot, 86, of Owensboro died on Monday, January 16, 2012, at Hermitage Care and Rehab. Born in Daviess County, a daughter of the late Myrtle and Dewey Huff, she attended Whitesville High School and married Bob Philpot of Philpot in 1943. She was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II in Evansville, IN. At the conclusion of the war she spent her career as a devoted wife and homemaker, catering to her family and preparing delicious home cooked meals. Audileen was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, an avid golfer and a fan of UK basketball.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert A. Philpot, a brother, Waymon Huff, two sisters, Juanita Akins and Margie Martin and a granddaughter, Nicole Lee Jones.

Survivors include her children, Allen Lee Philpot and his wife Kim of Louisville, Gale Bryant and Bonnie Phillips and her husband Barry all of Owensboro; grandchildren, Jason Jones, Michelle Tapp, Meredith Chaffin, Nate Phillips, Kendell Tong, Andrea David, Keith Philpot and Leslie Philpot; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Edge of Owensboro and Freda Huff of Myrtle Beach, SC, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Paul Strahan, Rev. Bob Farmer, and Dr. Mark Slaughter officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Baptist Church, Senior Adult Ministry or The Alzheimers Association.
