Arvin Hilton Vanover

Arvin Hilton Vanover, 96, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Born in the Daviess County Kentucky community of Rome, the son of the late Marshal and Virgie Powell Vanover, he graduated from Owensboro High School, retired from General Electric following 30 years of employment and was very active in Masonic organizations. Mr. Vanover was a Life Member, Past Master, and for 25 years served as Secretary of Owensboro Lodge Number 130; was Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Cali, Columbia near the Grand Lodge of Kentucky; was a member of the Joe Davis Chapter Royal Arch Number 32, Council Number 34 and Owensboro Commandery Number 15 Knight Templers; was a member of Scottish Rite, and a Shriner with the Rizpah Shrine Temple in Madisonville and member of the Owensboro Shrine Club; was Past Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of Kentucky and Past Patron and Life member of Acacia Chapter Number 46 Order of the Eastern Star; was a member and past Watchman of Shepherds of Owensboro Shrine Number 2, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. He was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, the Travelers Protective Association and was a Kentucky Colonel and an Admiral of Kentucky Waterways. His wife, Ione Goode Vanover preceded him in death, as well as his sisters Imogene Vanover, Myrlene Perryman, and Marjorie Claypool.

Mr. Vanover is survived by his sister, Glenna Sands of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside Masonic service for Mr. Vanover will be 2:00 Thursday in the chapel of Rosehill Cemetery. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Online messages of condolence may be placed at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
