Artie G. Midkiff, 83, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at her home. She was born May 13, 1932 in Sacramento, KY to the late Arthur and Mary Elizabeth Ashby Gibson. Artie was retired from General Electric after 32 years of service and was of the Methodist faith. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed quilting, spending time with her family, NASCAR, and drag racing. She had many friends and was a person who never met a stranger. Artie was also preceded in death by her husband, Glendon R. Midkiff, Sr. on February 25, 2007, a sister, Charlotte Pauline Gandy on July 29, 1998, and a brother, Arthur Elgin Gipson on March 5, 2007.
Surviving is her daughter, Penny Cook and husband Mike of Philpot, her son, Glendon R. Midkiff, Jr. and wife Gwen of Owensboro, four grandchildren, Danny Cook, Darren Midkiff and wife April, Johnny Midkiff and wife Mary, and Kristi Wilson and husband, Mike, seven great grandchildren, Austin, Nathon, Leslee, Alexis, Harley, Lane, and Victoria, two great great grandchildren, Liam and Shelby, and one on the way, Luke, two sisters, Bertha Ann Lundy and husband Cliff of Chattanooga, TN and Mary Edith Johnson and husband Jerry of Sacramento, a brother-in-law, Terry Midkiff and wife Gwen of Owensboro, a sister-in-law, Dottye Lou Gilbert and husband Bob of New Mexico, several nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 23, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
