Arthur J. Stewart

Arthur Jay Stewart, 81 of 12265 Fullenwider Road, Lewisport, Ky., died Monday, June 18, 2007 at his home. Jay was born February 24, 1926 in Daviess County. He was a graduate of Daviess County High School and a proud veteran of WWII. He loved farming and was an employee of Green River Steel for 25 years. Jay was an active member of Yelvington Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and holding several committee chairmanships. He was also past President of the East Daviess County Babe Ruth Association, and enjoyed all activities with his children and grandchildren. He also was an original member of the Yelvington Cemetery Restoration Committee.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 59 years, Marjorie, three children, Dale Stewart and his wife Jane of Owensboro, Allan Buzz Stewart and wife Martha of Lewisport, and Jane Hatfield and husband Art of Clarkson, Ky., seven grandchildren, Mike, Emily, Jenny, Jennifer, Seth, Katie, and Zack, four great-grandchildren, Vera, Jay, Joeseph, and Logan, a brother, Harvey Jarvis and a sister Anna Lee Campbell and a brother in law, Billy McIntyre, also his loving pet, Ben.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 a Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Yelvington Cemetery Restoration Committee or to Hospice Association Inc. Memorial Fund.
