Arthur Earl Statom

July 18, 1922 — December 24, 2002

Arthur Earl Statom, 80, of 5867 Wayne Bridge Rd, Owensboro, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at his residence. The Boyle County native was retired from the US Department of Agriculture, southeast region, as head auditor, where he served for 22 years. He was a member of the New Heights Baptist Church in Louisville and Suburban Masonic Lodge in Louisville. He also served in the US Army for four years during World War II in the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations for 22 months, for which he received the Bronze Star. He also enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, antiques, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia Carson Statom; a son, Mark Statom of LaVergne, TN; a daughter, Vickie Rafferty of Owensboro; four grandchildren; and a sister, Katheryn Sheegog of Winchester, KY.

Funeral services are 2:30 P.M. Friday, December 27, 2002 at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 P.M. on Thursday and after 11:30 A.M. on Friday.
