Arthur Lee Jackson, W4TOY, became a silent key Sunday, July 12, 2026 at his home in Owensboro at the age of 90. He was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky to the late William Andrew and Mary V. Lear Jackson. Mr. Jackson served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for several years.
Arthur was always good with technical things and started a job at the T.V. repair shop while still in high school. He went on to spend 28 years with the phone company, first at South Central Bell and then AT&T. His work also included about five years at General Electric. His last 10 working years were at Owensboro Community College.
Arthur Jackson was a well-known name around Owensboro Christian Church where he was a member for more than 65 years. He served in many capacities over the years-committing countless hours in serving the Lord and others.
Mr. Jackson was heavily involved in southern gospel quartets for many years, promoting, running sound, singing, etc. He was a member of the Gospel Seekers Quartet for many years.
He certainly touched many lives and will be dearly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Hazel M. Oglesby Jackson; a son-in-law, L.D. Frasier; and brothers, Brainard Lear Jackson and William Andrew Jackson, Jr.
He is survived by his children, Karen Lynn Frasier of Eddyville, KY, Randy W. Jackson (Jacque) of Bossier City, Louisiana, Larry Allen Jackson of Blanche, TN and Phillip L. Jackson of Owensboro; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
With a call of W4TOY, Arthur was an active HAM Radio operator for more than 75 years and now is “ 73---and clear.”
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 18 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be Friday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
