Armel Gray

March 30, 1926 — April 27, 2009

Armel Gray, Jr., 83, of Philpot, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at his home. Born March 30, 1926 in Ohio County, Mr. Gray was the son of the late Armel and Mamie Travis Gray; was a construction worker and the oldest member of the Laborers International Union of North American Local 1392; and was a member of Masonville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed turkey and deer hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Gray McDaniel in 2008 and brothers, Barney Gray and Duff Gray.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann Crutcher Gray; sons, Mike Gray of Owensboro , David (Regina) Gray and Tim (Debbie) Gray of Philpot; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James Gray of Columbia, SC; sisters, Mary Finley and Norma Faye Renfrow of Owensboro, Lois Nix of Masonville, and Dorothy Robinson of Hamlet, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Wingo officiating followed by burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
