Argle Drake

Argle Drake, Sr., 79, of Owensboro, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville, KY. He was born June 26, 1930 to the late David and Mildred Eddins Drake in Muhlenberg County. He had lived in Daviess County for 56 years, retired from Green River Steel after 19 years, and enjoyed building things from steel, including two tractors and many other items. He also helped build the living cross at Yellow Creek Baptist Church, where he has been a member for 25 years, he loved the church and was a greeter before his illness. He loved helping people when they were in need. His mother died at a young age, and was raised by his step-mother, Dora Drake, who he considered to be his mom.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jo Nell Drake; his children, Argle (Auna) Drake, Jr. of Georgetown, Kenny (Wendy) Drake, Curtis (Charlotte) Drake, and Sandra (Jerry) Day, all of Owensboro; seven grandchildren, Amy Clemons, and Aric Drake of Georgetown, Melissa Drake, Lee Ann Beals and their mother, Cindy Drake, Chris Cameron, Adam Cameron and Courtney Drake, all of Owensboro; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Ron Drake of Muhlenberg County, three sisters, Lenora Link of Crown Point, IN, Sue Beliles and Shirley Dukes, both of Muhlenberg County; two aunts, Mima Jones and Ina Brister, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, at Yellow Creek Baptist Church with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, and after 10:00 AM Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Yellow Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 5741 Hwy 144, Owensboro, KY 42303.
