The Reverend Arcy Wayne Lyle, 81, of Owensboro, died June, 14, 2010, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born to Frank and Lucy Lyle in Scottsville, KY, on August 25, 1928. In 1946, he enlisted in the military and subsequently served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, for which service he received a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, and a Vietnamese Honor Medal. After 21 years of duty, mostly as a criminal investigator, he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. In 1967, Wayne entered the United Methodist ministry, and he graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1969. When he retired in 1995, he had served as a pastor of 21 churches in the Louisville Conference of the UMC. After his formal retirement, he continued his service to both God and Country in his role as chaplain for the Criminal Investigation Division Agents Association.
The Reverend Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers.
His survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Lenette Amburgey Lyle; a son, Joe Lyle (Deborah) of Morris Plains, NJ; daughters, Chris Hart (Branson) of Owensboro, Vicki Combs (John) of Owensboro, Lisa Mascenik of Evansville, IN, and Sandy Atkinson of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Rachel, Erin, Lauren, Jaime, Jarred, Marlee, and Alexis; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Parker, Logan, Garrett, Eric, and Michael; and a sister, Irma Lyle Burns.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to either Hospice of Western Kentucky or Masonville United Methodist Church.
