Archie J. Smith

Mr. Archie J. Smith, age 92 of 6639 Harmony Drive, Utica, died Sunday, October 13, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro. His wife, Clarice R. Smith preceded him in death, March 7, 2001.

A native of Taffy in Ohio County, Mr. Smith retired from Owensboro Milling Company after 29 years, where he was a truck driver and forklift operator. Mr. Smith was a member of Masonville Baptist Church. He was a charter member in 1957, and the first deacon there. He was presently the oldest living member of the church, and a member of the Sons of Abraham Sunday school class.

Mr. Smith leaves a daughter, Peggy Parks of Masonville, a sister, Anna Dee Ware of Philpot, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Glenn Funeral Home. Also, after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at Masonville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Masonville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Ohio County.
